There are still two weeks left in November, so don’t rush into Christmas! November is not Christmas time. It is Fall, and the leaves are still turning with a nip in the air.

I love to decorate a table in the Fall with a fun plaid blanket and lots of leaves and bittersweet. Copper is a wonderful compliment to any table any time of year, but especially in the Fall. Our family loves to drink Spiced Apple Cider Pomegranate Moscow Mules out of copper mugs in the Fall and really all through the winter. The recipe is in the Fall section of Seasons of the Lake from last year. Enjoy!

Pottery Barn has this incredible bamboo flatware that will be perfect for every season at the lake house, but Fall is prime for this pattern. I think summer is going to be big for the bamboo as well. My husband was not thrilled about my purchase of this flatware because, of course, it must be hand washed. But sometimes, you just have to bite the bullet, and I did! Our other flatware was mismatched stainless steel from the restaurant my parents-in-law used to own. I remember when we went through the kitchen items when they sold the restaurant, none of the other siblings were interested in the flatware, but let me tell you, it has been worth its weight in gold at the lake house with our big groups of guests!!

Probably one of my favorite patterns of all time is the Woodland Spode pattern with so many different choices of animals you would find in the woods as well as a handsome assortment of dogs, which I love as well. Of course, this season, the Woodland Spode shines like the North Star and makes the lake house look especially cozy.

I use lots of stone and real terra cotta pieces on my tables which translate nicely into Fall as well. My Thanksgiving table this year has wonderful concrete pumpkins from a Kansas City store, Spruce Home. Love everything at that store!!!

And of course, a lake house is always game for a rustic wood ice bucket. The one in the picture here is completed with a deer-handled ice scoop. My favorite Rose wine, by the way, comes in a gorgeous bottle with a rose-cut bottom. It is Cote des Roses by Gerard Bertrand. People actually save these bottles for serving water when the wine it gone!

I hope you get to sit and reflect for the rest of this season. Before the Christmas rush starts, make a fire in the fireplace, enjoy this time with family and friends and load your table with tons of texture and fall colors. You will be glad you did.
