• Flying Reindeer and Plaid Make a Christmas Table

November 06, 2019

The Christmas decor from Leawood, Kansas store, Spruce Home was a home run this year for the lake house.  I was able to mix in some of their vintage feeling pieces with my own decor, and I adore these flying reindeer who apparently escaped from Santa's sleigh!

One year my husband surprised me at Christmas with this Austrian stag dinnerware that actually came from a dear friend's mother's collection whose was moving on to a new chapter in her life.  I couldn't decide between the white and red plaid chargers from Spruce to go with them, so I used both and I love the look!!!

These beautiful reindeer mimic my Austrian stag plates, but would go with so many types of winter dinnerware.  I can't think of anything in this season they would not complement.  And the best thing about them?  They are functional too.  Guests can actually see through them, across the table to converse during dinner.

I layered these plaid chargers with slightly larger willow chargers for a more woodsy feel, but the plaid is super versatile if you prefer a more formal look.  These hem-stiched napkins are tied with simple twine that is understated so as not to detract from the other beautiful pieces on the table.  I think I'm all ready for a December dinner party!

I love working with designer Zakk Hoyt each year at Christmas.  He is super talented and listens to what you want and works well with what you have, even to the last yard of buffalo check ribbon!  It wouldn't be Christmas without his touch on our house decor. Thank you Zakk!
